“Eclectically me”

This blog is intended to show stages of one of my paintings in progress. So, stay tuned.
I have finished a commissioned portrait of my tennis pro’s, Mom and Dad, “Ann and Jim.” and a portrait of Carole and Ross, friends. I paint entirely from photos. Sometimes I get too busy to paint every day...so a week or more may fly by before I can do a continuation. But you can subscribe to RSS below, and you’ll be notified when a new posting occurs. I would love to hear from you, so send me a comment located by the artwork below, and thanks for visiting my site! Please come back and see the painting as it progresses to the final stage.
As of June 30, 2012, this website will no longer exist. I have no idea how many people, (if any), read this. Please contact me if you have any interest in me continuing this website. Otherwise, you can catch my progression of artwork from start to finish at http://www.ArtRave.com then click on the BLOG section at the top of the page. There will be postings of my current artwork from the prelim sketch to finished watercolor or drawing.
The Missouri Fox Trotter’s progression is now on that website. I am starting a family portrait of my son’s family in the next week or so.
If you go from this website to the ArtRave site, please leave me a comment so I know who has been following this one.
Thank you for joining me there.
Nan Wright

Applied a lavender wash for the first layer of the horse. Followed this with brown and burnt sienna, finishing with a bluish neutral black mixed with dark brown. I will let him/her sit awhile and look at it in a couple of weeks for any tweeking that needs to be done. Probably more highlights need to be lifted out.

Removed the frisket around the horse. Now I’ll work on the horse and then go back and finish the background when he’s done.

A work in progress.... stay with me folks and you may be as surprised as I will be with the end result!
